Yes, case reports should be submitted to the "Cases" category and the Teaching Case Reports and Provocative Cases subcategory. When entering your case report, please enter "N/A" into the Methods section, and the actual case should be entered into the Results section. All other sections are completed as normal.

Note: There is no discussion section. If you have a discussion, please include your discussion in the Conclusion section.

We will accept adapted/repurposed abstracts but not strictly encore abstracts. The submitted abstract should contain new material or data, new analysis or interpretations.

No. To be eligible for acceptance and presentation at Heart Rhythm 2026, abstracts can not have been presented at a major medical meeting held prior to April 23 - 26, 2026. If an abstract is accepted at such a meeting, it is the submitting author's responsibility to withdraw the abstract from submission to Heart Rhythm 2026.

No, previously published abstracts are not eligible for acceptance or presentation at Heart Rhythm 2026.

Yes, however if the abstract is accepted for presentation at a meeting taking place before Heart Rhythm 2026 (April 23-26, 2026) or will be published prior to that time, it is the responsibility of the submitting author to withdraw the abstract by the abstract withdrawal deadline of February 24, 2026. 

Where authors use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, authors should only use these technologies to improve readability and language. Applying the technology should be done with human oversight and control, and authors should carefully review and edit the result, as AI can generate authoritative-sounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete or biased. AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be listed as an author or co-author, or be cited as an author. Authorship implies responsibilities and tasks that can only be attributed to and performed by humans.

HRS follows the guidelines of our publisher, Elsevier, in their AI policy for authors. We do not permit the use of Generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create or alter images. This may include enhancing, obscuring, moving, removing, or introducing a specific feature within an image or figure. Adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance are acceptable if and as long as they do not obscure or eliminate any information present in the original. 

The only exception is if the use of AI or AI-assisted tools is part of the research design or research methods (such as in AI-assisted imaging approaches to generate or interpret the underlying research data). IF this is done, such use must be described in a reproducible manner in the methods section. This should include and explanation of how the AI or AI-assisted tools were used in the image creation or alteration process, and the name of the model or tool, version and extension numbers, and manufacturer. Authors should adhere to the AI software's specific usage policies and ensure correct content attribution. Where applicable, authors could be asked to provide pre-AI-adjusted versions of images and/or the composite raw images used to create the final submitted versions. 

If submitting a full manuscript to one of our journals, authors should disclose in their manuscript the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by following the instructions below. A statement will appear in the published work. Please note that authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the contents of the work.

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding a statement at the end of their manuscript in the core manuscript file, before the References list. The statement should be placed in a new section entitled 'Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process'.

Statement: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL/SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.

This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, references, etc. If there is nothing to disclose, there is no need to add a statement.

The total character count for submission is 2,500 characters and does not include the Abstract Title. Spaces are included. Images will deduct up to 560 characters (based on image resolution) and image captions are also included in the character count.

Tables should be submitted by uploading an image as a png or jpg file. Ensure text is large enough to read when printed and does not include any identifying patient information. Images should be 72 - 300 dpi. Images will deduct up to 560 characters from the total character count.

No, all authors do not have to be members of HRS, but they DO need to have an HRS account. Please visit www.hrsonline.org to create an HRS account. Authors should have an HRS account prior to adding their name to the author list to prevent duplicate accounts.

No, there is no maximum.

No, the submitting author will submit disclosures prior to submission and the presenting author (if different from the submitting author) will be required to submit disclosures prior to accepting the invitation to present. 

The system will default to have the submitting author listed as the presenting author. However, the presenting author can be changed to any of the co-authors by simply selecting the button for "Presenter" next to the desired co-author's name.

Before submitting, you can change the order of listed authors by dragging and dropping them into the desired order. You can also select which author will present. Author order can be changed up until the submission deadline. 

After the submission deadline, if an abstract is accepted, a change in presenting author can be requested by emailing [email protected]. Please share the abstract ID and the name and email address of the new presenting author.

The abstract submission fee is $25 for HRS members and $85 for non-members. The submitting author is responsible for this fee upon submission.

Individuals must have an active HRS membership before submitting their abstract in order to receive the discounted abstract fee. We cannot issue refunds or adjust pricing if membership is purchased after the abstract has already been submitted.

The system will not allow you to submit an abstract that is missing required fields. If you attempt to move on to the next section or submit, you will receive an error message. Once you have completed all required fields and submit your abstract, the submitting author will receive a confirmation email as well as a payment receipt. 

In addition, the submitted abstract will appear under "Submissions" of the submitting author's account at hrs2026.abstractcentral.com.

Before the submission deadline, the submitting author can make changes to the abstract by returning it to draft status. Please be sure to resubmit the abstract prior to the submission deadline or the abstract will not be eligible for consideration at Heart Rhythm 2026.

After the submission deadline, no edits will be allowed to the abstract submission. Please carefully review your submission prior to the deadline to ensure accuracy. 

The submitting author will be notified of abstract acceptance in late January 2026.

Following this notification, the presenting author will be sent an invitation to present in late January 2026. If the submitting author is not also the presenting author, please note that these two notifications will be sent to separate people. Be sure that your author list is correct and the presenting author is labeled as such. 

The submitter is notified of the acceptance, but the presenting author is the one who is sent the invitation to present which will show which type of presentation they are assigned.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Society (CES) Young Investigator Award (YIA) Competition recognizes and encourages the work of young investigators and their parent institutions. It is open to any physician or scientist who is currently in a residency, fellowship, or doctoral training program, or who has been in such a program within the past three years (at the time of submission) and is an active member of The Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Society (CES). The competition is also open to predoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students who are working on a problem concerned with cardiac pacing and/or electrophysiology in the areas of clinical and basic research.

The Health Equity Abstract Award began in 2023. This award is open to abstracts that involved research with a mission of narrowing the gaps in EP Healthcare, research performed at a granular level with a focus on HRS-defined underrepresented patient populations, research with a focus on inequalities in the application of available therapies in clinical electrophysiology, and/or research that highlights solutions on the plugged or leaky pathway for a woman and/or UREG.

The Most Innovative Abstract Award is awarded to the highest scoring abstract that includes a novel innovation, pilot, or validation study. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Corporate Relations Advisory Council and a winner will be recommended for approval by the Heart Rhythm Program Committee Abstract Chair.

The Eric N. Prystowsky Fellows Clinical Researcher Award is an annual award presented to the highest-scoring abstract submitted to the Clinical Electrophysiology/Ablation abstract category. It is provided through the Eric and Bonnie Prystowsky Fund. The award is open to fellows currently in a training program or no more than one year out of Fellowship training. The research for the eligible abstract must have been substantially completed during the Fellowship period and must involve intact human subjects.

The HRS2026 Young Investigator Award (YIA) Competition recognizes and encourages the work of young investigators and their parent institutions. The YIA Competition is open to any physician or scientist who is presently in a residency, fellowship, or doctoral training program or has been in such a program within the past three years (at the time of submission). The competition is also open to students in graduate or medical schools working on a problem concerned with cardiac pacing and/or electrophysiology (EP) in clinical and basic research.

This is the second year for the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Electrophysiological Society (PACES) YIA Competition. All submissions will be reviewed by the PACES Research Committee and the abstract with the highest score will be deemed the winner. This competition is open to PACES members that are currently in a residency, fellowship, or doctoral training program, or who have been in such a program in the last three years. It is also open to predoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students who are working on a problem concerned with pediatric or adult congenital electrophysiology.

The SADS Foundation Courts K. Cleveland, Jr. Young Investigator Awards (YIA) Competition recognizes and encourages the work of young investigators studying sudden cardiac death predisposing genetic heart diseases (channelopathies & cardiomyopathies), their mentors, and their parent institutions. All submissions to the SADS YIA Competition will be reviewed. One clinical/translational and one basic science investigator will receive awards during the PACES annual meeting.

We are excited to announce the SADS Foundation Allied Professional and Genetic Counselor (AP/GC) Research Awards! The awards recognize genetic counselors and allied health professionals who conduct outstanding research in cardiac channelopathies and cardiomyopathies. The work should be scientific, innovative, informative, and practical. The topic of the research must be related to inherited cardiac channelopathies, inherited cardiomyopathies, or sudden death. It should impact patient care, advocacy, education, research, community awareness, or increase awareness of a new aspect of the disease.

The SADS competition is open to any allied health professional or genetic counselor working in clinical or basic research studying sudden cardiac death predisposing genetic heart diseases (channelopathies & cardiomyopathies).
